BIO

Katie Henry is a singer, songwriter, composer and pianist based in idyllic Alma, Wisconsin. With a background in classical piano, her music is inspired by the mess and the beauty of the world around her. With soothing vocals, thoughtful melodies and on-purpose lyrics, you may find yourself suddenly and seamlessly transported from your musty red barstool to your grandmother’s rocking chair. Over the years she has evolved from heartbreak songbird to singing songs of comfort and hope - allegedly even bringing tears to the eyes of a calloused J.T. Viele.

Strongly influenced by the sound of 2004 Sia, Gungor, and The Brilliance, Katie’s style has been described as “chamber pop” - modern music with a classical twist.

For over 15 years, Katie has been writing, arranging, and performing with a variety of musicians and musical projects, both domestically and internationally, from composing music for Czech television shows (Labyrint Světa a Ráj Srdce) to touring to asylum seeker homes (Symphony of Nations) to backing up Andrew Frederick at 331 and Icehouse (Frederick, the First). Now you will find her closer to the front of the stage as she begins to release her own original music into the wild.

Her most recent project, Settling into Blue, was just released May 2025. This record explores the collision of the cycle of abuse with the six stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, and hope. Her background in classical piano is highlighted with moody compositions like "bargaining", and "anger", whereas "break" and "rewrite" introduce a pop element, and you'll hear sprinkles of an Eastern European influence throughout. You can call it singer songwriter, you can call it chamber pop, but whatever you call it, you know it is 50% experiment, 50% experience, and 100% heart.
